IntroductionI had the opportunity to take a JFK-LIS flight on the Airbus A321neo in business class because of the ANA Round the World award deal before they discontinued it, and I think the seat was actually a good experience for a narrow body aircraft.
Usually on short red eyes to Europe, sleeping in Economy is fine. But, sleeping flat on a short flight actually makes a difference, even though the air time is between 5-6 hours. I had flown TAP Air Portugal in business class within Europe before (LIS-LHR) which was a good experience in itself but this experience was much better than expected! If you find the flight for the right price, I would recommend it.
Interior, SEAT, and AMenitiesThe aircraft is in a 2-2 then 1-1 then 2-2 configuration, so basically if you are in the 2-2 seat, you have to be sitting next to someone and have to step over them if you want to get into the aisle. And then the row behind is just 1 seat. If you're a solo traveler, you want the solo seat.
Overall, the seat felt comfortable but you can tell that space was definitely considered. The amenity kit was very basic, nothing too special.
Menu, takeoff, and dinnerAfter takeoff and once the plane hit 35000 ft, that's when they started meal service. I picked the mahi mahi and the fish was surprisingly tasty! Overall I thought the meal was a good highlight, and then I went straight to sleep.
