Introduction

I've been wanting to go to Charleston for the longest time, so when I got the chance to go I jumped on it! My girlfriend and i decided to go for the weekend and I think it was the perfect getaway. It's definitely up-and-coming, and I highly recommend it to any group of friends looking to have some fun!

To get the most out of your experience, renting a car will be the best value so you can go to more places. We mostly made this into a beach trip, but if you're looking to go bar hopping or admire nature, Charleston has that too! I think that any more time might have been a little too much, but there's a lot to see. I highly recommend visiting!

 

Nature

  • White Point Garden / The Battery - super small & cute park to start your day! I liked how it was near the water.
  • Joe Riley Waterfront Park
  • Isle of Palms Beach - a little out of the way but still worth the trek if you have the time! I liked how the beach was a little lowkey, but the sand was too thin for my liking and parking all day is $15. 
  • Folly Beach - this has to be part of your Charleston itinerary! I recommend doing a day trip out here. There's lots of cute restaurants, cafes, etc. leading towards the beach. It reminded me a little bit of Tybee Island near Savannah except it had a more lively vibe. Set up under the boardwalk for the maximum shade. The water was warm as well!

 

food

  • Harken Cafe
  • Poogan’s Porch - great fried chicken, but the mac & cheese was not worth the $12.
  • Lost Dog Cafe - this cafe's super cute and a must on your Folly Beach day trip. The inside has a bunch of dog pictures and has overall good vibes. 
  • The Pineapple Hut - it's not really listed on Google Maps but it's a food truck that sells soft serve! Get the "Paradise Bowl" where they serve you the soft serve in a pineapple. 
  • The CODfather, Proper Fish & Chips
  • The Royal American - didn't really eat here, but only came to the $5 photo booth (cash only)!
  • Hannibal's Kitchen - perfect spot for soul food with great pork chops!
  • Taste of Thai - We came 30min before closing and we got served and paid before they closed. Food was amazing as well!
