Vienna

Introduction

Venturing into Eastern Europe was something I’ve always wanted to do, but I never saw the right time, city, or the deal to do it. Then, I saw an opportunity to visit Vienna on a day’s layover and jumped on it. My time there was rushed because I was only there for ~6-7 hours.

Vienna is very walkable, but I felt like I was fast walking all over the city to see everything. I wouldn’t do this if I had more time, but you should at least dedicate 2 days. I also felt like Vienna is one of those cities where you want to walk and take it all in. Even if you don’t go into any of the museums, it’s just nice to admire the architecture! All the buildings are very pretty. While I was there, I would have loved to catch the opera or explore at a more leisurely pace. Everything below is what I did that day and I’ll definitely be back!

Stadtpark - super cute park with some interesting sculptures here.
Zanoni & Zanoni - the ice cream here wasn't bad, with sizable portions.
Rathaus der Stadt Wien
Parlament - really cool looking building, recommend stopping by.
Burggarten
Schönbrunn Palace - I would dedicate at least a day to the palace. It’s SO beautiful and there’s so much to see. How it works is that there’s different ticket tiers and each tier allows you to access a certain part of the palace/gardens. The more you pay, the more of the palace you can see. Unfortunately, I felt like I got ripped off because 1) it was very short and 2) you can’t take pictures. I ended up spending most of my time in the gardens (which was honestly the best part, and also free). You can leave your bags at the coat check and freely explore.
